Dubai Dragon Boat Training Night once again, the Desert Falcons proved what teamwork, grit, and rhythm can do under the dazzling evening lights of Deira Creek.
On Wednesday, October 8th, our crew gathered for another Desert Falcon water training session, dressed in our proud Falcons Green jerseys. The call time was set for 7:00 PM, and by 7:30 PM, the paddles were slicing through the calm Dubai waters.
Leading the session, as always, was Coach Alain, our steady guide and motivator. From the steerer’s seat, he directed the strokes, corrected the forms, and made sure every paddle counted.
Strong lineup, stronger spirit
Tonight’s crew brought together a solid mix of seasoned Falcons and energetic new paddlers, each one ready to give their best under the evening lights. Leading the rhythm up front were Tonette and JJ, the bow pair setting a steady pace that guided the rest of the team. Just behind them, Lorain and Ging matched every stroke with precision, followed closely by Steve and Gin, whose power and timing kept the midsection solid and consistent.
Further down the boat, Mikko and Paolo powered through with smooth, strong strokes, while Mahmoud and Zoe brought grit and focus that helped drive the boat forward. The back rows saw Borbz and Newbie, along with another newbies pairing, adding fresh energy and enthusiasm that lifted the entire crew’s spirit.
Even with a few empty seats, the energy was unstoppable. Every paddler stayed in sync, keeping the rhythm alive and the boat steady. That signature “Falcon Flow” began to return once again, one paddle, one heartbeat, one team.
Coach Alain’s guidance
Coach Alain emphasized control over chaos, shorter strokes, cleaner catches, and that perfect sync between the bow and stroke side. It wasn’t about brute strength tonight. It was about technique, timing, and trust.
The bow pair, Tonette and JJ, led with confidence, setting a steady pace that echoed through the whole boat. Behind them, Lorain, Ging, Steve, and Gin powered the midsection with strong rhythm, keeping the dragon steady across the water.
And at the back, Mikko, Paolo, Mahmoud, Zoe, and Borbz provided the engine, raw strength that pushed the crew forward even when fatigue kicked in.
Measured progress, one stroke at a time
Our Falcons aren’t just training hard — they’re tracking every session.
According to Mahmoud’s Strava log, the team covered 5,925 meters in 1 hour and 7 minutes (see his activity here).
JJ’s session showed 4.97 km over 1 hour 40 minutes (check it here).
These aren’t just numbers, they represent real effort, teamwork, and growth. Every meter tells the story of a crew that refuses to quit.
