Hey there! The Desert Falcons are back at it again, and this time, they’re training harder than ever. Why? Because there are only 59 days left until the IDBF Race! That’s right—the countdown is on, and the team is leaving no stone unturned in their preparation. Let me take you through their latest Desert Falcon Training session, which took place on Thursday, February 13th. Spoiler alert: it was a night full of teamwork, determination, and a whole lot of fun!
Gearing Up for the Evening
The training session was an evening affair, perfect for those who love a little nighttime adventure. The call time was 7:50 PM, and by 7:25 PM, the team was already warming up. By 7:35 PM, they were loading up, and by 7:50 PM, the training officially began. Talk about precision timing!
The venue? None other than the iconic QD’s – Deira Creek, a spot known for its beautiful views and calm waters. And guess what? The team was reminded to bring lights for safety—because even superheroes like the Desert Falcons need to stay visible in the dark!
Meet the Team

The training was led by the amazing Intan, the team’s steerer and captain for the evening. Her job? To keep everyone in sync and make sure the boat glided smoothly through the water. And with a team like this, that’s no easy task!
Here’s how the team lined up:
- Bow (Left): Mahmoud, Osman, Glen, Khaled, Radhi, Len, Dennis
- Stroke (Right): Reda (a newbie—welcome!), Nafih, Bolz, Lamberto, Ruby, Jobai, Is
Each member brought their unique energy to the boat. Mahmoud and Osman kept the rhythm steady, while Glen and Nafih added their signature strength. Khaled and Ruby took on the special role of pacers, setting the pace and keeping the team motivated. And a very happy birthday to Ruby—thanks for being an amazing pacer and teammate! 🎂🎉 A special shoutout to Reda, the newbie, for jumping right in and showing some serious potential!
The Training Session
The Falcons covered an impressive distance of 5,245 meters—that’s like paddling from one end of a really long beach to the other! The moving time was 55 minutes and 52 seconds, which means they were paddling non-stop for almost an hour. But the entire training session lasted from 7:50 PM to 9:01 PM. That’s over an hour of teamwork, determination, and maybe a few splashes here and there.
What makes this Desert Falcon Training so special? It’s not just about the distance or the time—it’s about the teamwork. Paddling in sync, listening to the steerer, and pushing through the fatigue together is what builds a strong team. And let’s be honest, it’s also a lot of fun! There’s something magical about being out on the water under the evening sky, surrounded by teammates who are all working toward the same goal.
Counting Down to the IDBF Race
Here’s the big news: the Desert Falcons are training hard for the IDBF Race, one of the most prestigious dragon boat events in the world! With only 59 days left, the team is more focused than ever. Every stroke, every shout of encouragement, and every drop of sweat during these training sessions is a step closer to their goal.
The team knows that success at the IDBF Race won’t come easy—it takes dedication, discipline, and a whole lot of teamwork. But if anyone can do it, it’s the Desert Falcons.
Why Training Matters

So, why is Desert Falcon Training such a big deal? It’s not just about getting stronger or faster—it’s about building trust, communication, and camaraderie. Every stroke of the paddle, every shout of encouragement, and every drop of sweat brings the team closer together.
For the newbies, this was a chance to learn the ropes (or should I say paddles?) from the more experienced members. And for the old paddlers, it was an opportunity to share their knowledge and keep the team spirit alive. Everyone had a role to play, and everyone contributed to the success of the session.
