Desert Falcon Training: An Evening of Teamwork and Splashes!

Hey there! Ever wondered what it’s like to train with one of the coolest teams out there? Well, the Desert Falcons recently had another awesome Desert Falcon Training session, and it was nothing short of amazing! But here’s the exciting part—this isn’t just any regular training. The team is preparing for the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Challenge, set to take place in February 2025 in Jewel of the Creek, Dubai. Let me take you through this exciting evening of teamwork, sweat, and maybe a few splashes here and there.

Gearing Up for the Evening

The training took place on Sunday, January 7th, and it was an evening session—perfect for those who love a little nighttime adventure. The call time was 7:00 PM, and by 7:15 PM, the team was already warming up. By 7:25 PM, they were loading up, and by 7:50 PM, the training officially began. Talk about precision timing!

The venue? None other than the iconic QD’s – Deira Creek, a spot known for its beautiful views and calm waters. And guess what? The team rocked their blue jerseys, looking sharp and ready to take on the challenge.

Meet the Team

The training was led by the amazing Intan, the team’s steerer and captain for the evening. Her job? To keep everyone in sync and make sure the boat glided smoothly through the water. And with a team like this, that’s no easy task!

Here’s how the team lined up:

  • Bow (Left): Mahmoud, Khaled, Lamberto, Tonette
  • Stroke (Right): Babiker, Osman, Nafih, Janine, and Is

Each member brought their unique energy to the boat. Mahmoud and Khaled kept the rhythm steady, while Lamberto and Nafih added their signature strength. Tonette and Janine brought their A-game, and Is was the perfect finisher, keeping the team motivated till the very end.

The Training Session

The Falcons covered an impressive distance of 4,685 meters—that’s like paddling from one end of a really long park to the other! The moving time was 52 minutes and 38 seconds, which means they were paddling non-stop for almost an hour. But the entire training session lasted from 7:50 PM to 9:01 PM. That’s over an hour of teamwork, determination, and maybe a little friendly competition.

What makes this Desert Falcon Training so special? It’s not just about the distance or the time—it’s about the teamwork. Paddling in sync, listening to the steerer, and pushing through the fatigue together is what builds a strong team. And let’s be honest, it’s also a lot of fun! There’s something magical about being out on the water under the evening sky, surrounded by teammates who are all working toward the same goal.

Preparing for the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Challenge

Here’s the big news: the Desert Falcons are training hard for the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Challenge, one of the most prestigious dragon boat events in the world! Scheduled for February 2025, this competition will bring together the best teams from across the globe. And the Falcons? They’re determined to make their mark.

Every stroke, every shout of encouragement, and every drop of sweat during these training sessions is a step closer to their goal. The team knows that success in Hong Kong won’t come easy—it takes dedication, discipline, and a whole lot of teamwork. But if anyone can do it, it’s the Desert Falcons.

Why Training Matters

So, why is Desert Falcon Training such a big deal? It’s not just about getting stronger or faster—it’s about building trust, communication, and camaraderie. Every stroke of the paddle, every shout of encouragement, and every drop of sweat brings the team closer together.

For the newbies, this was a chance to learn the ropes (or should I say paddles?) from the more experienced members. And for the old paddlers, it was an opportunity to share their knowledge and keep the team spirit alive. Everyone had a role to play, and everyone contributed to the success of the session.
