Hey there! Have you ever wondered what it’s like to train like a pro athlete? Well, the Desert Falcons recently had an exciting water training session, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of awesome! If you’re curious about what went down, grab a seat, and let me take you through this fun-filled morning.
Early Birds Catch the Waves

The day was Saturday, December 28th, and the call time was bright and early at 5:45 AM. Yep, you read that right—5:45 AM! While most of us were probably still snoozing, the Desert Falcons were already gearing up for an epic training session. By 6:00 AM, they were loading up, and by 6:15 AM, the training officially began. Talk about starting the day with a bang!
Now, let’s talk about the team. The Falcons were split into two sides: Bow and Stroke. On the Bow, we had Ferdz, Tonette, Khaled, Mahmoud, Rhady, Len, Lambert, Babiker, and even a Newbie (welcome aboard!). On the Stroke, there was Manny, JJ, Alnita, Chris C., Is, Chevy, Osman, and the legendary Old Paddler. With such a mix of experienced paddlers and fresh faces, the energy was electric!
The training was led by our steerer, Intan. If you’re wondering what a steerer does, think of them as the captain of the boat—she guide the team, keep everyone in sync, and make sure the boat glides smoothly through the water. And trust me, with a team this big, coordination is key!
Paddling Through the Morning
The Falcons covered an impressive distance of 5,618 meters. That’s like paddling from one end of a really, really long park to the other! The moving time was 51 minutes and 23 seconds, which means they were paddling non-stop for almost an hour. But the entire training session lasted from 6:35 AM to 8:01 AM. That’s over an hour and a half of teamwork, sweat, and maybe a little splash here and there.
Oh, and let’s not forget the dress code! The team was advised to wear rash guards or green jerseys. Rash guards are perfect for water activities because they protect your skin from the sun and reduce chafing. Plus, they make you look like a total pro. Green jerseys, on the other hand, are a great way to show team spirit. Either way, the Falcons were ready to rock!
What makes this training session so special? It’s not just about the distance or the time—it’s about the teamwork. Paddling in sync, listening to the steerer, and pushing through the fatigue together is what builds a strong team. And let’s be honest, it’s also a lot of fun! There’s something magical about being out on the water early in the morning, surrounded by teammates who are all working toward the same goal.
For the newbies, this was a chance to learn the ropes (or should I say paddles?) from the more experienced members. And for the old paddlers, it was an opportunity to share their knowledge and keep the team spirit alive. Everyone had a role to play, and everyone contributed to the success of the session.
What We Can Learn from the Falcons

So, what can we learn from the Desert Falcons? First, teamwork makes the dream work. Whether you’re paddling a boat or working on a group project, working together is the key to success.
