Unbreakable Falcons: Dubai Dragon Boat Team Overcomes the Elements at Deira Creek | Training Night – Nov 12, 2025

The Desert Falcons Dubai Dragon Boat Team took to the waters of Deira Creek once again for another evening of focused endurance and team unity. Despite midweek traffic challenges and a few missing paddlers, the Falcons’ spirit remained unshaken — proving once more that persistence defines the team’s core.

Training Overview

On the evening of 12 November 2025, the Desert Falcons Dubai Dragon Boat Team gathered once again at QD’s – Deira Creek for another intense midweek training session. Wearing their signature Falcons Green jerseys, the team arrived right on time with the first paddlers checking in by 7:00 PM, boats loaded by 7:25 PM, and strokes hitting the water by 7:30 PM sharp.

Under the direction of Coach Alain, who also took on the role of steerer, the crew began with a quick warm-up and technique briefing before heading out onto the calm evening waters. The focus of the night’s session was on refining stroke timing, maintaining consistent paddle entries, and reinforcing synchronization between the left and right sides, vital elements in preparation for the upcoming Dubai race season.

As the boat glided through the creek under the city lights, the Falcons maintained a strong formation and rhythm throughout the main training set. The line-up for the evening featured Mc and JJ at the bow, Zoe and Gin holding the second pair, followed by Dennis and Mark anchoring the middle. NB1 and Tina kept the rhythm steady through the next set, while Neil closed out the formation with powerful drive and balance.

Coach Alain’s keen eye ensured every pair worked in harmony, with smooth transitions and precise timing from start to finish — showcasing the Falcons’ ever-growing teamwork and technical refinement.

Team Notes

Despite a smooth session overall, a few teammates missed the session due to heavy traffic, possibly linked to ongoing Dubai event congestion. A special mention goes to Mido (Mahmoud), who unfortunately couldn’t make it this round. Your energy was missed, and the team looks forward to having you back next week!

The focus for the evening was long endurance pieces, keeping power strokes consistent while emphasizing breathing and form over speed. With the calm evening at Deira Creek, the Falcons took advantage of near-ideal water conditions for technique refinement and stamina work.

Reflections from the Boat

  • “Consistency builds champions.” Coach Alain
  • “When one paddle misses, the team feels it — that’s how tight we’ve become.” JJ
  • “It’s not about who’s in the boat, but how we move together.” Gin

These words echoed throughout the night as the team wrapped up another productive water session under the Deira lights.

Looking Ahead

As the Dubai Dragon Boat season builds momentum, the Desert Falcons are steadily sharpening form, balance, and endurance. Each Wednesday session brings the team closer to peak performance and unity — ready to take on the next challenge.

A special thank you to Zoe for capturing the evening’s moments through his lens. The photos perfectly reflect the dedication, focus, and camaraderie that keep the Desert Falcons soaring higher each week.
