When Passion Meets Persistence on the Water
Another Wednesday, another wave of determination. The Desert Falcons gathered once again at the calm yet challenging waters of Deira Creek for their Dubai Dragon Boat Training. It was a slightly late start this time. The city was buzzing with traffic, likely thanks to the ongoing Gulfood exhibition that had Dubai’s roads glowing with tail lights. But a little delay never stops the Falcons.
Strong Start, Steady Focus
By 7:50 PM, the team was ready — paddles gripped, hearts steady, and spirits high. Under the guidance of Coach Alain, with Captain Intan (IM) steering, the crew powered through the evening with precision and teamwork. The Falcons Green jerseys glowed under the dock lights, a familiar sight for anyone who has witnessed the team’s steady rise this season.
The Line-Up: Falcons in Formation
Leading from the bow, Mc and Gin set the rhythm that carried through the boat. Behind them, Philip and Jobai powered the middle, with Borbz, Joven, Josh, and IS delivering consistent strokes that kept the boat balanced. The back lines featured Mark, one of our promising new paddlers, alongside Zoe, who helped maintain the boat’s final push.
It was a full team effort, experienced paddlers guiding the rhythm while new members found their place in the flow.

Special thanks to Borbz for capturing the fantastic photos that highlighted the team’s determination and unity on the water. Every shot tells a story of grit, teamwork, and relentless energy.
The session ended under the city lights of Deira Creek, the calm waters mirroring the team’s discipline and drive as they continue to prepare for upcoming competitions.
Performance Report: Consistency is Key
The Falcons didn’t let the late start affect their focus. According to Strava data, both steerer and paddlers logged solid distances:
- IS: 3,507 meters in 44 minutes, 31 seconds
- Captain IM: 3,580 meters in 45 minutes, 19 seconds
A bit shorter than usual in distance, but considering the start time and traffic delays, it was a powerful session that emphasized synchronization over speed.

Weather and Water: Calm Yet Demanding
The Dubai evening brought mild winds and steady waters — perfect for drills focused on timing, paddle placement, and breathing control. The team used this opportunity to work on endurance strokes, improving transitions between short bursts and sustained paddling.
Team Spirit: Late But Never Lazy
Despite the traffic and a later start, not a single Falcon complained. Instead, laughter filled the dock before loading, and energy carried through every paddle stroke. It’s this unwavering team culture — commitment, humor, and grit — that continues to set Desert Falcons apart in the Dubai dragon boat community.
A Glimpse Ahead
With every week, the Falcons are shaping themselves for upcoming races. Each session builds stamina, strengthens coordination, and reinforces the bond among teammates. As the season continues, the team is clearly flying higher with every paddle.
