Desert Falcons Water Training – September 7, 2025

There’s something special about training on a Sunday evening. The sky starts to soften, the city lights glow on the water, and the Desert Falcons gather with paddles in hand, ready to move as one team. This week, the crew came together at QD’s – Deira Creek for another solid session of dragon boat evening training.

Getting Ready

The call time was 7:00 PM sharp, with everyone arriving in their Falcons Green jerseys. By 7:25 PM, the boat was already loading. There’s always a little buzz in the air during this moment—the chatter between teammates, the sound of paddles knocking lightly, and that feeling of, “Okay, let’s do this.”

At exactly 7:30 PM, training began. No delays, no excuses—just pure focus on the water.

The Training Session

The workout lasted for just under an hour, with a total moving time of 54 minutes and 8 seconds. In that time, the Falcons covered a solid 4,611 meters.

That’s nearly 5 kilometers of steady paddling. Not bad for a Sunday evening! Every stroke mattered, and every meter helped sharpen the crew’s timing and endurance.

Dragon boat training isn’t just about distance. It’s about how well the team stays in sync. When one paddle hits the water late or early, the rhythm gets broken. But when 20 paddlers move as one, the boat feels like it’s flying. That’s the magic the Falcons keep chasing every time they train.

The Atmosphere

Training in the evening always brings a special vibe. The water was calm, the air cooler, and the city lights made the creek shimmer. But this night was extra special.

On September 7, while the Falcons paddled, the blood moon rose above the water. It was one of those rare moments where nature turned practice into something unforgettable. The glowing red moon reflected on the creek, almost like it was racing with the boat.

The crew kept pushing through the session, but you could feel everyone sneaking little glances upward. It’s not every training that you get a workout and a front-row seat to one of nature’s most stunning shows.

Why Training Matters

Every practice like this builds towards race day. Covering 4,611 meters in training means the crew is building endurance. Staying on the water for nearly an hour helps improve stamina. Practicing timing and technique means fewer mistakes when it counts the most.

It’s not just about winning races, though. Training together makes the Falcons a family. The shared sweat, the rhythm of paddles, and the little victories in every session all build trust and teamwork.

Looking Ahead

With each training session, the Desert Falcons grow stronger. The consistency is paying off. By showing up on a Sunday night, committing to the schedule, and giving it their all, the team is laying down the foundation for success in future competitions.

The next practices will continue to focus on endurance, timing, and raw power. And of course, more fun on the water. Because at the end of the day, dragon boating is about enjoying the journey as much as chasing medals.

Final Thoughts

Sunday’s dragon boat evening training was a success. The Falcons showed discipline, covered impressive distance, and kept their energy high throughout the session. With every stroke, the team grows stronger, faster, and more connected.

Here’s to more training nights, more kilometers on the water, and more memories made together. 🐉💪
